Distilled in 2009 and bottled after 8 years of maturation in a cask that previously held Laphroaig, this dram starts mellow and fudgey to start on the nose, with a hit of smoky rashers of bacon, cloves and white chocolate. Distilled in 2009 and bottled after 8 years of maturation in a cask that previously held Laphroaig, this dram starts mellow and fudgey to start on the nose, with a hit of smoky rashers of bacon, cloves and white chocolate. To taste it is wonderfully creamy, with softly smoked malted barley, white-wine poached pears, moving to spiced (cloves again) and a hint of honey. With water, the peaty aromas are opened up, with a scent of an old chimney or hearth. We think this is a fine example of the Ardmore spirit, a harmonious balance of barley, peat smoke and wood.
